St. John’s native Liam Hickey will compete for a Paralympic Gold medal in Sledge Hockey this Sunday in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Hickey and Team Canada punched their ticket to the gold medal game with a dominant 7-0 victory over the Republic of Korea on Thursday. They will play rival United States in the deciding matchup on Sunday.
The 19-year-old Hickey has six goals and four assists through Canada’s four games in the tournament.
The United States are the reigning Paralympic champions, besting host-club Russia at the 2014 games in Sochi. Canada finished with a bronze four years ago, with a 3-0 victory over Norway.
