Below is a copy of a message sent to The NL Herald
I have been unable to send a heartfelt thank you to the members of Great Big Sea in these days of Twitter and Facebook. I first heard GBS listening to Canadian Forces Radio when I was stationed in Germany in the 80s. I have been to their concerts in North Carolina, USA. These past few years I have been given the gifts of peace and comfort by using Ordinary Day as an anthem during my cancer surgery, radiation and now chemotherapy.
‘It’s all right’
My daughter and her husband, who live in Chicago, saw Mr. Doyle in concert last night. I was reminded that I needed to acknowledge the debt I owe this group. “At the end of the day, I’ve just got to say, it’s all right.”
Bless you.
