This Bud’s for You!

Bud Davidge has quite the following. On the day The Herald joined Davidge – along with Hamilton Sound – on Topsail Beach for a few tunes and a chat (music available on our NL Herald YouTube channel), those visiting the area were thrilled to encounter such a legend. Davidge, perhaps most well known as part of the band Simani, gleefully posed for pictures and took some time to talk to a visitor or two returning to the province for Come Home 2022. “It’s always nice to hear from people that they remember growing up listening to your music,” he said. The fact that tunes performed decades ago are still treasured are thanks to shows like OZFM’s Jigs & Reels, he continued. “Danielle (Butt) does a great job keeping the music in the hearts and minds of the next generation, and that’s so much of the reason why traditional artists can still draw a crowd at concerts and shows, because the music is so well known and it’s heard each and every week,” he said. Davidge can be seen onstage at Churchill Park Music Festival on Aug. 14th. His music will be backed by friends Chris Andrews and Mark Hiscock. Also onstage that evening are Celtic Connection, Masterless Men, Carolina East, Kubasonics and The Original Irish Descendants.
