Atlantic Fest 2017

Get ready for the biggest music event in Central Newfoundland in 2017, as Atlantic Fest descends upon Grand Falls-Windsor’s Centennial Concert Park on August 26th with a lineup headlined by one of country music’s biggest names.

Blake Shelton is set to headline what will officially be the inaugural festival (the 2016 instalment was canceled due to an illness to headliner Selena Gomez), and he is joined by an all-star lineup including Canadian pop rock icon Corey Hart, folk songstress Serena Ryder, local trad outfit Shanneyganock and Newfoundland’s own rising country star Mallory Johnson.

Blake Shelton is one of the most recognizable faces and voices in mainstream music and is a bonafide country music star. He is a five time CMA Male Vocalist of the Year and currently serves as a coach of the highly rated NBC reality series The Voice.

Shelton rose to prominence early in his career, with his debut self-titled album reaching platinum status in his native United States and peaking at number three on the country charts. He would go on to have another four platinum selling albums and four gold records including four records that topped the charts and two which reach rarefied double platinum status. Among his singles to top the charts in the U.S. are Austin, The Baby, Some Beach, Home, She Wouldn’t Be Gone, Sure Be Cool If You Did and the triple platinum Honey Bee.

Montreal native Hart has sold over 16 million records worldwide and is universally known for his radio staple hits Sunglasses at Night and Never Surrender.  Read more about the internationally known Canadian pop star here https://nfldherald.ca/music-spotlight-corey-hart/?v=3e8d115eb4b3

Serena Ryder initially gained national attention with her stirring ballad Weak In The Knees. She since has released the platinum selling album Harmony with the hits

Stompa, What I Wouldn’t Do  and Fall,  and most recently her studio album Utopia in May.  She has won a whopping six Juno award and has cultivated a strong following in Atlantic Canada and here in Newfoundland and Labrador, most recently performing at the 2014 George Street Festival.

Shanneyganock are hot on the heels of their brand new studio album Home In My Harbour, which follows up on the success of their fan favourite album Rockin’ On The Water. The four-piece have been busy touring the island throughout the summer with strong engagements at the George Street Festival and Squidfest. The Chris Andrews and Mark Hiscock co-fronted trad outfit are universally loved across the province and are well known for bringing the party to each and every live event

Mallory Johnson is a notable name in the island’s country music scene who is set to unveil her debut album, produced by country legend Sammy Kershaw. Johnson’s debut single Tupelo rocketed to number six on the Canadian Country iTunes charts and in recent years she has performed alongside the likes of Rascal Flatts and The Sheepdogs.
