MusicNL Awards Week 2018

The sights and sounds of Newfoundland will be felt in Twillingate this October, as the town plays hosts to the 2018 MusicNL Awards and Conference Week.

Twillingate is set to play host to the 2018 MusicNL Awards and Conference Week, a five day long event that honours the very best artists and industry experts across Newfoundland and Labrador. 

Sounds of NL

Featuring educational sessions, showcase performance, networking events and the always anticipated and star-studded award-show, MusicNL Week is a chance for the cream of the crop of the music community across Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as music enthusiasts ans fans, to congregate and celebrate the sounds that shape our province.

“The MusicNL Awards are an opportunity for the province’s finest artists and music industry professionals to be recognized for excellence in their craft,” Glenda Tulk, Executive Director of MusicNL shared at the events’ unveiling. “We’ve had some world-class applicants again this year and we are pleased to honour them. In particular, there were an unprecedented number of applications for industry awards, which we hope marks a growth in the infrastructure of the music industry in this province.”

The Nominees

This year’s diverse and eclectic crop of MusicNL Award nominees is led by The Swinging Belles, Mark Bragg and Fortunate Ones with five nominations apiece. Other multiple award nominees include Ouroboros, The Ennis Sisters and LeRiche (4 each) followed by Rum Ragged, Mallory Johnson, Property, Kellie Loder, Carolina East, Glen Collins and Paul Brace (3 each). Fellow high profile nominees include Mick Davis & Thin Love, Waterfront Fire, Joel Thomas Hynes, The Combine and Earle and Coffin. The Herald is also honoured to share that we have been nominated for two awards at the 2018 event; Outstanding Company of the Year and Media Person of the Year (Dillon Collins).

Outside of the numerous artist showcases and the fan-favourite awards show, the MusicNL Conference will serve up an export buyers program, which will give local artists an opportunity to connect with guest delegates from across Canada, the US and the UK, providing opportunities seldom afforded to emerging artists.
