The National Basketball League of Canada announced the release of the 2018-19 schedule today. The St. John’s Edge will begin the season on the road as they travel to London, ON in a rematch of the Central Division Finals. After the one-game stint in London, the team will meet the Windsor Express in Windsor, ON before returning home. Full schedule available here.
In their first home-stand the St. John’s Edge welcome the Moncton Magic on November 23rd and 25th respectively.
Key Series will be the first look at the NEW Sudbury 5 franchise on December 18th and 19th. A rematch of the top two teams from last season’s Central Division when London Lightning visit Mile One Centre on January 19th and 20th. Also, a meeting with Halifax Hurricanes on January 29th and 31st, building on the rivalry from last season.
The season will again consist of 20 home and 20 road games for all teams, with five home-stands in 2018-19. The longest stretch at home will be from March 3rd to March 24th when the Edge will conclude their season at home against the Island Storm, which will be their second trip to Mile One Centre in the 2018-19 season.
The St. John’s Edge will welcome for the first time to Mile One Centre, the Cape Breton Highlanders, Island Storm, Saint John Riptide and Sudbury 5. This is all due in part to the new format for the season which sees all teams combined in one conference rather than the Central and Eastern split of the past.
The schedule reflects just seven (7) mid-week games, with the start time for those being set at 7:00pm NLT. Sunday games will begin at 2:00pm, with the exception of the January 20th match-up with the London Lightning which will see a rare 3:00pm start time. Within that series as well, the game scheduled for January 19th will be a 6:00pm start time.
