Girls Rock NL are set to launch 2018 with an all-ages launch event this Saturday in St. John’s.

Joel Thomas Hynes is the winner of the 2017 BMO Winterset Award for his book We’ll All Be Burnt In Our Beds Some Night. The award, which celebrates excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador writing, was presented today at a ceremony at Government House in St. John’s.

Newfoundland’s own powerhouse vocalist Carolina East has been nominated for an Indigenous Music Award. East picked up a nomination for Best Country Album for her 2017 self-titled EP.
The event is expected to take place on Friday May 18th at the Club Regent Event Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The second annual Iceberg Alley Performance tent on Quidi Vidi has announced its lineup, featuring a who’s who of Canada’s music scene.
The tent includes a slew of concert performances with a variety of ticket options from September 13th – 22.

Former Federal MP and Cabinet Minister Judy Foote is set to become the first-ever female Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. An official announcement is expected to be made later today.
Foote stepped away from cabinet and resigned as a Liberal MP in August of 2017 due to personal reasons.
