Stay tuned to The Newfoundland Herald as former staff writer, ongoing freelance contributor and lover of all things Newfoundland, Wendy Rose, covers festival
Hello again, Herald readers!
Longtime readers may remember my red-headed self from my years at The Herald as a staff writer! Some of you newer readers may recognize me from freelance contributions — mostly arts-related stories, or recaps of my more extravagant baycations.
For those just tuning in, let me introduce myself — I’m Wendy Rose, and I’ve been a freelance arts and entertainment reporter based in St. John’s for the past decade… time flies when you’re having fun!
My job IS fun every day. I’m writing this email while cruising down the highway in Notre Dame bay (in the passenger seat, of course — safety first!) after finishing up a nine-day press trip around the central NL region.
Now, I’m en route back to St. John’s for another thrilling experience: Lawnya Vawnya 11!

LAWNYA VAWNYA?
The term “lawnya vawnya” means a good time by the sea, according to the Newfoundland dictionary, and this festival promises exactly that.
I’ll be on the scene throughout LV11, giving The Herald readers on-the-spot coverage of this wonderful event series.
Be sure to follow The Newfoundland Herald on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Or better yet, join in on the fun at lawnyavawnya.com.
See you on the Lawnya Vawnya dance floor — we’ll have a lawnya vawnya ourselves!
